What is Wispr Flow?
Wispr Flow is an AI dictation app made by the US start-up Wispr. Hold a shortcut, speak, and the text appears in the app you’re using: email, Slack, a document, your browser.
Its strength is clean-up: it removes filler words, adds punctuation, catches your corrections (“at 5… actually 6pm” becomes “at 6pm”) and adapts the tone to each app. It runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android.
What Wispr Flow does well
- Polished clean-up: filler words removed, self-corrections caught, tone adapted (formal, casual) to each app.
- A personal dictionary that learns names, acronyms and jargon.
- More than 100 languages, according to Wispr.
- On desktop and on phones (iPhone and Android).
- SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified; audio is deleted after transcription unless you turn on cloud storage.

When to keep Wispr Flow
- You dictate as much on your phone as on your computer.
- You often correct yourself mid-sentence and want dictation to clean it up for you.
- You dictate in languages beyond Keypop’s eight.
- The cloud doesn’t bother you and you already pay for a plan.
When Keypop suits you better
- You want free dictation with no word limit, not a trial.
- Your voice must stay on your computer: client data, health, legal.
- You dictate offline: trains, planes, locked-down company networks.
- You use Linux, which Wispr Flow doesn’t support.
- You want your dictation to become an email or a list in one keystroke (Tab), and the same bar to fix, rephrase or translate (Alt + K).
What Keypop doesn’t do
- Keypop doesn’t catch your self-corrections yet: “Thursday, no sorry, Friday” stays as you said it. You can follow up with Rephrase, but it isn’t automatic.
- Saying “comma” or “period” out loud doesn’t work yet: Keypop punctuates on its own, from your voice.
- In a noisy open-plan office, on-device dictation can pick up voices around you. A headset fixes most of it; the Pro plan dictates in the cloud, in France, and ignores background voices better.
- You need to install it (about 4 GB to download, once): Windows 10 and 11 with at least 8 GB of memory, Apple silicon Macs, or Linux. There is no phone app.
Try Keypop, or switch from Wispr Flow
- Download Keypop for Windows, Mac or Linux from the free dictation page, and create your free account with your email. The AI downloads once, about 4 GB.
- Put your cursor where you want to write, press Alt+M (⌥ + M on Mac) and speak. Enter inserts the text; Tab turns it into an email or a list.
- Coming from Wispr Flow? Fill in your company and its website in Settings → Profile: Keypop picks up your product names and spells them right, then learns the names that keep coming up in your texts.
